Role of chemical industry in the fight against COVID-19

The European chemical industry has been playing an essential role during the COVID-19 crisis. Cefic has just published a map of Europe featuring all the initiatives taken by the industry to help provide critical supplies such as disinfectants, protective equipment, fuel, diagnostic tests etc. Understanding their responsibility, Cefic’s members including Euro Chlor have been:

• pushing their capacity limits to meet the exponential rise in demand for disinfectants, diagnostic tests, ventilators, protective masks, gloves and gowns, Intensive Care Unit medicines and equipment and protective clothing;
• forming new alliances and shifting their production processes to adapt to the new needs;
• donating funds or critical supplies to hospitals and medical facilities.
