Euro Chlor Sustainability Programme features at ESA 2019
Last week (6 June 2019), Euro Chlor Technical & Safety Director Ton Manders showcased the Euro Chlor Sustainability Programme at the European Sulphuric Acid Association (ESA) 2019 Spring General Assembly in Dubrovnik, Croatia to more than 100 experts.
In his presentation, he highlighted that continuous improvement in performance can be achieved through sustainable development that addresses environmental, social and economic issues. The Euro Chlor Sustainability Programme, started back in 2001, gives reliable data on the ever-increasing performance of the industry that has been reported in the annual Chlor-alkali Industry Review. The results show, for example, the clear reduction in mercury emissions following the 2017 phase-out of mercury technology, the continuous improvement of lost time injuries and process incidents and decrease in primary fuel energy consumption.
