PCC expansion of monochloroacetic acid production planned in Poland

PCC SE has announced plans to expand with a new monochloroacetic acid plant in Poland. The project will increase annual capacity at their Brzeg Dolny site from 42,000 metric tons to 100,000 metric tons.

The Brzeg Dolny site, which is also home to Euro Chlor member PCC Rokita (who supplies the chlorine and hydrogen to produce the valuable substance), is the group’s largest chemicals site and the only one of its kind in Eastern Europe.

High-purity monochloroacetic acid (or MCAA) is used in the production of a range of everyday items including PVC, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and plant protection products. The expansion of MCAA production at the site is expected to drive further growth in PCC’s chlorine segment.

Waldemar Preussner, Chairman of the Administrative Board of PCC SE noted that “Our MCAA plant in Brzeg Dolny is located in the immediate vicinity of the chlorine electrolysis plant of PCC Rokita. This is a good example of the synergy effects we are creating between the entities in the PCC Group.”
