Portuguese member to invest in new Spanish chlorine plant

Euro Chlor member company CUF has finalised an agreement with Solvay for the construction of a chlorine, caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid production plant in Torrelavega, Spain.

CUF is investing €55 million to acquire Solvay production units and to build a new membrane-based chlorine production plant. This new plant has an estimated production capacity of 68,000 tons of chlorine and is expected to start up within 24 months.
