World Chlorine Council

Euro Chlor is a key member of the World Chlorine Council (WCC), a global network of national and regional trade associations and their member companies representing the chlorine and chlorinated products industries accounting for more than 80% of worldwide chlor-alkali production capacity.  Euro Chlor alternates with the American Chemistry Council to run the Secretariat every two years.

The WCC is a global network representing the chlorine and chlorinated products industries. Originally formed in 1993, it brings together national and regional trade associations, along with their member companies to promote best practices and the benefits of chlor-alkali chemistry.

WCC Vision:  Chlor-alkali chemistry is recognized as making an essential contribution to a sustainable world.

WCC Mission: Be a global forum to promote health, safety, and environmental best practices in order to provide society with the benefits of the chlor-alkali industry.

Global Mercury Partnership/ Chlor-alkali

The Minamata Convention on Mercury is the global treaty to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury. It was agreed at the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee in Geneva, Switzerland on 19 January 2013.

The Convention draws attention to a metal that, whilst naturally occurring, has broad uses in everyday objects and is released to the atmosphere, soil and water from a variety of sources. Controlling the anthropogenic releases of mercury throughout its life-cycle has been a key factor in shaping any obligations under the convention.

Euro Chlor, in conjunction with the international chlor-alkali community through the WCC, actively participates in providing information and support for this process. Click here for more information.
